NewsThe Who close Glastonbury 2007 Rock veterans play the hits in the rain 5 hours ago The Who brought this year's Glastonbury Festival to a climatic close tonight (June 24) with a greatest hits set on the Pyramid Stage. As the festival began with pouring rain, so it ended with the heavens opening throughout the rock veterans' hour and a half performance. Launching into 'Relay', guitarist Pete Townshend made reference to his internet vision back in 1971, the year he wrote the track. Joking with the crowd he said: "You look at these old fuckers here onstage talking about the internet in 1971 and that was the year I wrote this song." The rock veterans went on to thrill the crowd with a stunning performance of classic hits including 'My Generation', 'Won't Get Fooled Again', 'You Better You Bet' and 'Pinball Wizard', which saw the band roll through a huge medley. Of their performance Townshend told the crowd: "We waited a long time to come here. We are so pleased to be here. Thanks for sticking with us." As The Who drew the three day bash to a close, Townshend strapped on an acoustic guitar and Daltry was seen swigging from a mug for the final track 'Tea And Theatre'. The singer added: "It maybe muddy, it maybe wet but you have been fantastic. Thank you Glastonbury." The Who played: 'I Can't Explain' 'The Seeker' 'Anyway Anyhow Anywhere' 'Fragments' 'Who Are You 'Behind Blue Eyes' 'Baba O'Riley' 'Relay' 'You Better You Bet' 'My Generation' 'Won't Get Fooled Again 'The Kids Are Alright' 'Pinball Wizard' 'Amazing Journey/Sparks' 'See Me Feel Me' 'Listening To You' 'Tea And Theatre' Glastonbury festival-goers are now starting to make their way off Worthy Farm. Spice Girls sell album through underwear chain The Spice Girls are selling their new album exclusively through a lingerie chain. The girl group have signed a ?5 million deal to make their greatest hits LP only available in the US at outlets of underwear giant Victoria's Secret when it is released in November. A Victoria's Secret insider said: "It's an unbelievably great opportunity for all involved. We're just so excited about it. "The Spice Girls are icons all over the world and we're delighted to have them on board." Victoria's Secret will also offer fans a special limited-edition box set, which includes charm bracelets, a karaoke DVD, postcards and posters. The Spice Girls' greatest hits will also be available to download for American fans. The 'Wannabe' singers will make their comeback at the Los Angeles Victoria's Secret Fashion Show, which will air on CBS on November 15. The deal is similar to the one Sir Paul McCartney brokered this year. He agreed to sell his latest album 'Memory Almost Full' through coffee chain Starbucks. The reunited group - Geri Halliwell, Victoria Beckham, Mel B, Emma Bunton and Mel C - have also signed a ?5 million deal with supermarket giants Tesco to appear in two advertisements. |
